AHOJ to the Czech Republic!

Time for LUNCH!

Flying over Iceland!

We left from Linz, Austria.

Lynn gets in some reading and a short nap during our 9 hour return home.

Mike is pretty excited to share these Czech beers with the boys....nine beers....$6.40 dollars. It really is cheaper to buy beer than water!!

Co-founders of the newly formed Gin & Tonic Club! They have had many organizational meetings!

Hotel Cocktails in a 16th Century Monastery?

Being raised as a Catholic, it just seemed like an odd place to have cocktails!

While there were many seats available at the bar, we were often their only customers. One of our tour guides said that often the Chinese pay for inexpensive packaged tours and don't spend much money after that.

Our bartender was glad to have us. This particular day he said we were his ONLY customers!!

CARP! It's what's for DINNER!

Jana, our tour guide, explained how CARP is a favorite dish of the Czechs. There are many man made ponds for raising CARP. This dish is especially popular around Christmas time. SUPINA means "scales" in Czech....not sure about supinka.

Mike & Mike ordered the tartar special.

Large menu!

Carp Sushi

We thought the carp restaurant would be something like "Joe Tesses" place on the Missouri River. We didn't know it would be a fancy restaurant with chandeliers!

Carp is cut in fingerlings....I did not get any bones! Mike got a few. The meal also included herbed mashed potatoes and a lemon & dill dipping sauce for the fish.

Mike ordered the famous Czech brandy....SLIVOVICE.

He thinks it is GOOD!

Karen gets adventuresome and tries it too!

Crepes for lunch

Mike & Jan watch the crepes being made.

We order both...SWEET & SAVORY crepes! YUM!

Walking through CESKY KRUMLOV

I want to get on one of those RAFTS! Looks like fun!

Look how they use the mountain as part of the castle!

I love how they use the mountain to support the castle.

Cesky Krumlov Dinner

Yes, this is a typical Czech dinner....roasted pork, sauerkraut and potato dumplings.

Salad girl still has to have her greens.....Claire's nickname for her Mimi!

Finally, Mike gets his pork knuckle!

Our bill...1,469 Krona....about $74....4 beers, 1 appetizer, 2 salads and 4 dinners!

Table of Czech locals as Mike and Karen exit.

Hotel RUZE in Cesky Krumlov

Hotel Ruze was built in the 16th Century as a Jesuit University Monastery. It is preserved in the Renaissance style.

Window shutters.

Beautiful fall view!

Mike is fearful he will hit his head in the middle of the night!

Sitting area.

Coffee and desk area.

Entrance & closet.

A real THRONE!

Hallway greetings.

Everywhere you turn, there are crosses, paintings, tapestry, sculptures of religious artifacts.
